• Motorola, on 3 April 1973 were first company to mass produce the the first handheld mobile phone. These early mobile phones are often referred to as 0G mobile phones, or Zero Generation mobile phones. 

• The IBM Simon was the first of its kind when it came out in 1992. This phone was the 1992 version of today's I-Phone. It was touch screen, portable, had a calculator, email, and could work on networks. It was basically described as being the first time someone created a mobile computer into the shape of a phone.  In '94, the closest thing to a smartphone.

• The cell phone, featured in "The Net," also worked as a PDA (personal data assistant) with a calendar, address book, calculator, email and a keyboard. It cost $899 and had a battery life of just one hour. 

• The first flip phone, the Motorola StarTAC, was becoming commonplace in the mid-'90s. Finally phones were approaching a reasonable size. The 'banana' phone, the Nokia 8110, was also Neo's phone in The Matrix (1999) - and was the first example of the sliding form factor. 

• The first “smartphone” dates from 1997. This is one of the best mobile phone facts and i am talking about the Ericsson GS88 “Penelope” model which is the first mobile phone that was called “smartphone”, a term that ended up being, as you know, tremendously popular.

• One of the most popular mobile phones in history was the Nokia 3210 in 1999, with over 160 million sold and Nokia 1100 were to date, there are 250 million units sold, and it is considered one of the toughest phones ever created, which probably explains this amount of success.

• There is an addiction to mobile phones and it’s called nomophobia and around 200,000 million human beings suffer from this phobia and as the fear of certain people who are afraid to leave their home without their mobile phone. There is also another term, “ringxiety” that is used to describe the feeling of hearing the phone when it is actually not ringing, and another one called, “phubbing“, which describes the behaviour of a person who ignores everything around him/her (including human beings) due to the use of the mobile phone. • We check our mobile phone about 150 times a day on average Although it is very likely that people who suffer from nomophobia do this a lot more often than average, it is said that we check our phones every 6 minutes on average. • There are already more mobile phones than people in our world and this is happening because the number of people who have a mobile phone in the world is very high (about 5,000 million, and it is increasing as we speak and each user has about 1.5 phones on average, which means that the number of mobile lines is located close to 7,500 million, and the world is populated by 7,350 million people.

• Mobile phones contain many more bacteria than a toilet flush and according to several studies, the number of bacteria found on the screens of mobile phones is 20 and 30 times more than what has been found in a toilet bowl. So that’s a good reason to keep it away from your mouth, don’t you think?

• There is a mobile phone out in space and It is a Google Nexus phone, launched into space in 2013 by researchers from the University of Surrey (United Kingdom) in order to check the resistance of its components in vacuum conditions and its ability to control a satellite in space.
